Can I activate my eSIM while using in-flight Wi-Fi?
Last updated: June 24, 2026
It depends on your device.
iPhone: Yes. You can download and install your eSIM using in-flight Wi-Fi on iPhone, as long as the connection is stable enough to complete the download.
Android: In most cases, no. Android devices typically require a stronger and more stable connection to complete eSIM installation. In-flight Wi-Fi is usually not reliable enough.
Install your eSIM before you board. It takes less than a minute on a normal Wi-Fi connection and removes any risk of issues mid-flight.
Does my eSIM activate on the plane?
No. Your travel eSIM activates when it detects a local partner network on the ground. Even if installed during the flight, it will not connect until you land.
