Can I use my travel eSIM at home?

Last updated: June 24, 2026

Travel eSIMs are designed for use outside your home country. In most cases, they will only connect when you are abroad.

Even if your travel eSIM can technically register at home, it is not recommended. You would be using travel data in a place where your regular SIM already provides coverage — often at a higher cost per GB than your standard plan.

If you need data at home, use your regular home plan or SIM. Save your travel eSIM for use abroad.

This is normal on some devices — the profile can be installed and visible without being used. As long as your regular SIM is selected as the active data line, you will not consume travel data at home.

To confirm: Settings → Cellular (iPhone) or SIM card manager (Android) → check which SIM is set for mobile data.
