Getting started — what to do after activation
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Once your travel eSIM is installed and your plan is active, here is what to check before you travel.
Before you leave
1. Install the eSIM at home on a stable Wi-Fi connection — see How to install your eSIM — iPhone / Android / Samsung
2. Confirm your device is set to use the travel eSIM for mobile data
3. Turn on data roaming for the travel eSIM line — see Do I need roaming enabled?
4. Optionally, turn off data roaming on your home SIM to avoid unexpected charges
5. Note your data allowance and expiry date in the app
When you land
Turn off airplane mode. Your travel eSIM searches for a local partner network automatically. Allow a few minutes to connect.
If data does not start within 5 minutes, see eSIM Activation Delayed or Stuck.
During your trip
Check your data balance in the app if you are using a lot of data. See How do I check my data usage?. If you are running low, top up before the balance reaches zero — see How do I top up?.
