Do I need roaming enabled to use my travel eSIM?
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Yes. Data roaming must be turned on for your travel eSIM line. Without it, your eSIM will not connect to local networks abroad.
This is different from your home SIM's roaming. You need roaming on for your travel eSIM, and you may want roaming off on your home SIM to avoid unexpected charges from your regular carrier while abroad.
How to turn on roaming for the travel eSIM
iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap your travel eSIM plan → turn on Data Roaming
Android / Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → tap travel eSIM → enable Data roaming
How to turn off roaming on your home SIM
