Dual-SIM Conflict

Last updated: June 24, 2026

When using a travel eSIM alongside your regular SIM, both can be active at the same time. This can cause your device to route data through the wrong SIM or switch unexpectedly.

Confirm the correct data SIM is selected

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → select your travel eSIM

Android / Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → Mobile data → select travel eSIM

After a restart, data may switch back to your home SIM

This is the most common cause. Some devices reset the default data SIM after a reboot. Check the setting each time you restart while abroad.

Turn off data on your home SIM while abroad

To avoid accidental roaming charges on your home plan:

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap your home SIM → turn off Data Roaming and Turn On This Line (for data only — keep enabled for calls)

Android: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → tap home SIM → disable mobile data for that line

VPN interference

An active VPN on your device can conflict with travel eSIM data routing. Try disabling the VPN and testing your connection.
