How to install your eSIM — iPhone
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Before you start, make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and your QR code ready.
Important: this eSIM profile installs on one device only. Once you complete installation here, the profile cannot be reinstalled on another device. If you change phones during your trip, you will need a new eSIM.
Before you start: if you're connected to a VPN, turn it off before installing. An active VPN can block the install from completing. You can turn it back on once your eSIM is installed and connected.
Step 1 — Open eSIM settings
Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
Step 2 — Scan the QR code
Point your camera at the QR code. Tap Continue when prompted.
If you cannot scan the code — for example, if the QR code is on the same device you are installing on — tap Enter Details Manually and paste the activation code instead.
Step 3 — Follow the on-screen prompts
Tap Continue, choose a label for the new plan, then tap Add Cellular Plan.
Step 4 — Set data routing
Once installed, go to Settings → Cellular → select your travel eSIM → turn on Data Roaming.
Set your Primary SIM as Default Voice and iMessage, and set the travel eSIM as Cellular Data.
Activation
The profile downloads in seconds on a stable Wi-Fi connection. Your travel eSIM activates automatically when you arrive in a covered country and turn on data roaming.
You do not need to be in your destination country to install the eSIM. Install it before you travel, then activate it when you land.
